New Alpha Community Development Corporation is a 501 (c)(3) organization that seeks to educate, empower, and mobilize low-income communities and people of color. Their primary goal is to address issues of poverty and income inequality by building assets to create wealth in our communities. They work with organizations and agencies on the local, state, and national level to promote and encourage changes in legislation and action for environmental health and vulnerable communities. Their work includes community seminars, youth programs, community development, training programs, and community-based events.
The Whitney M. Slater Foundation was founded in 2012 and is dedicated to continuing the dreams and aspirations of Whitney M. Slater, who passed away battling breast cancer. Her mother and grandmother decided to continue Whitney’s organizing work so her dream can live on through events, programs, and scholarships. The Foundation works with a variety of community-based faith and environmental justice organizations to help gain support for vulnerable communities and take a community-based approach to establishing effective programs for community members.
